Summer of Service 2008
The Center for Multicultural Cooperation (CMC) connects generations, cultures, and communities using the power of technology and digital media. This summer CMC will conduct several programs which you are invited to participate in:
• Hmong Voices - Mobilizing youth and adult volunteers to document Hmong elder contributions to culture, community, and country.
• Veteran Voices – Mobilizing youth and adult volunteers to preserve the stories of local veterans’ contributions to community and service to country.
• Latino Voices – Empowers Latino youth and elders to express their history, culture, perspectives and insights through digital storytelling.
• Mental Health Public Service Announcements – Mobilizing youth and adult volunteers to create culturally-relevant public service announcements in English, Spanish, and Hmong, identifying mental health issues and available resources.
Come to the first meeting Monday June 23, 5:30 pm at the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium, 2425 Fresno Street 93721 to check it out. Your time commitment will be 2 evenings a week, and the program will run until early August. This is a FREE opportunity to learn the art of video production, all equipment is provided, and no experience is necessary. Youth are eligible to win video cameras and there will be a 1 week Tech Camp at UC Santa Cruz, all expenses paid!
