 The FresYES All-Stars is a youth leadership program for boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 19, the majority of whom come from at-risk and underserved backgrounds. These youth leaders meet each Saturday to:
- Increase technological literacy, including digital communication, web design, video editing, and graphic design
- Learn a wide range of important life skills, including interpersonal communications, public speaking, writing, project management, and time management skills
- Set life goals and outline tangible steps to achieve these goals, focused on immediate and long-term steps to position themselves for success through internships and college entry
- Learn teambuilding and leadership skills to organize and guide larger groups of youth volunteers through various CMC intergenerational digital storytelling programming
- Commit to a year of service to their community, volunteering an average of 20 hours each month, helping others in their community, including mentoring at least two new All-Stars every year
FresYES creates leaders who positively affect hundreds of other residents of the Central Valley through their project leadership, youth recruitment and mentoring, and service to community.
FresYES Enterprises is a workforce skills development initiative of the young people involved in the FresYES All-Stars. These young people have responded to the public sector’s need for reasonably priced and reliable technical assistance by developing FresYES Enterprises. Through FresYES Enterprises, they are employed as Youth Media Consultants to develop social media solutions for non-profit, government, and educational organizations that seek to bring their message to the greater public.
Some of the services offered through FresYES Enteprises includes:
• Video production, including the filming of events and the production of PSAs and television commercials.
• Social media production, including social networking marketing (myspace, facebook), online video distribution (youtube) and other social media solutions.
• Technology training on information management, specializing in both individual organization training and group trainings.
